COLLEGE FOOTBALL QB REPORT

Quarterback Central | Teams | Players

UCLA head coach Chip Kelly did not reveal a starting quarterback for Saturday night’s matchup at San Diego State but said all three will probably see the field, according to Orange County Register’s James H. Williams. Kelly actually opened the interview session by naming LA Times’ UCLA beat reporter Ben Bolch the starting QB, but the Bruins probably have better options. Ethan Garbers (Stats) and true freshman Dante Moore (Stats) played in the season-opening win over Coastal Carolina, but we’re likely to see Kent State transfer Collin Schlee (Stats) make his UCLA debut. All three QBs are listed as co-starters on this week’s depth chart.

California QB Sam Jackson V (Stats) said it will be a game-time decision for Saturday night’s game against Auburn, according to Write for California. Head coach Justin Wilcox said Jackson has been practicing this week after leaving the season opener with an upper body injury, and he could’ve gone back in if needed in last week’s blowout win over North Texas. Based on that news and the fact that Jackson was made available to media, it feels like there’s a good chance he’s available. He’s listed at the top of the depth chart along with Ben Finley (Stats), who played well in his Cal debut when he replaced Jackson.

Kansas QB Jalon Daniels (Stats) is expected to make his season debut in Friday night’s game against Illinois, according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel. The report said it has not been determined whether Daniels or Jason Bean (Stats) will get the start, and both are listed as co-starters on this week’s depth chart. Daniels has been dealing with back tightness since training camp, and it forced him to miss the first game of the season against Missouri State. Earlier this week, head coach Lance Leipold and offensive coordinator Andy Kotelnicki said Daniels has been getting a lot of reps during practice.
