Week 2 QB Depth Charts & Injuries Tracker

Keep in mind, not every team releases a depth chart or an injury report, but the depth charts reflect whatever the team releases during the week. I’ll add a few notes to provide more context to any QB injury or depth chart question, and this post is updated throughout the week. The Big Ten requires an “availability report” be released two hours before game time that shows injury questions. Other than that, there is no consequence for teams to mislead on depth charts and injuries to potentially gain an advantage.

Because of that, this will never be perfect, but I put in the time and research on this page to make sure it’s the most accurate resource for QB injury and depth chart news on the internet.

LOUISVILLE CARDINALS
Jack Plummer (Stats)
Evan Conley (Stats) OR Brock Domann (Stats) OR Harrison Bailey (Stats) OR Pierce Clarkson (Stats) OR Brady Allen (Stats)
NEWS 9/7: Plummer (16-22, 247 yards, TD, 2 INTs | 4 rush, 5 yards) led Louisville to a 56-0 win over Murray State. Domann (4-4, 34 yards) was the second quarterback in, followed by Conley (1 rush, 19 yards) with Bailey (3-5, 51 yards, TD) making his Cardinals debut. So did Clarkson (1-2, 7 yards | 1 rush, 3 yards), Allen (1-1, 7 yards), Sam Vaulton, Sam Young and Travis Egan.

NEWS 9/1: Plummer (18-31, 247 yards, 3 TDs, INT | 9 rush, 51 yards) made his Cardinals debut in a 39-34 neutral-site win over Georgia Tech. Conley played one snap, though it’s unclear who’s the top backup with five listed on the depth chart.

Friday, September 8

INDIANA STATE VS. INDIANA, 7:00

INDIANA HOOSIERS
Tayven Jackson (Stats)
Brendan Sorsby (Stats)
NEWS 9/8: Head coach Tom Allen said the coaching staff will evaluate the quarterback spot this week after Sorsby and Jackson split the first two starts, which was the plan. Jackson (18-21, 236 yards | 6 rush, 9 yards, TD) made his first college start in the 41-7 home win over Indiana State with Sorsby (9-16, 108 yards | 6 rush, 28 yards) getting plenty of work. True freshman Broc Lowry (Stats) made his college debut on the final play.
NEWS 9/2: Sorsby (8-15, 58 yards | 6 rush, -2 yards) and Jackson (1-5, 24 yards | 3 rush, 11 yards) split snaps fairly evenly in a 23-3 home loss to Ohio State. Head coach Tom Allen said the plan has been to split the first two starts and make a decision for Week 3, so Jackson will start. Dexter Williams II (Stats) is projected to return midseason after a season-ending leg injury in 2022.

ILLINOIS VS. KANSAS, 7:30

ILLINOIS FIGHTING ILLINI
Luke Altmyer (Stats)
John Paddock (Stats) OR Donovan Leary (Stats)
NEWS 9/8: Altmyer (19-28, 202 yards, TD, 2 INTs | 13 rush, 70 yards, 2 TDs) left for one snap after taking a big hit in the third quarter of the 34-23 road loss to Kansas and was replaced by Paddock.
NEWS 9/2: Altmyer (18-26, 211 yards, 2 TDs, INT | 9 rush, 69 yards) made his Fighting Illini debut in a 30-28 home win over Toledo and played every snap. Paddock is likely the top backup option.
