COLLEGE FOOTBALL QB REPORT
Quarterback Central | Teams | Players
Utah QB Cam Rising (Stats) is doubtful for Thursday night’s game against Florida, according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel. Brandon Rose (Stats) is listed as the next option on the depth chart, though head coach Kyle Whittingham said Nate Johnson (Stats) will play, if not start. Earlier this week, Rising and Whittingham declined to reveal whether he’s been cleared to play. Top backup Brandon Rose (Stats) is out indefinitely with an undisclosed injury suffered during camp.
Iowa head coach Kirk Ferentz said on his radio show that he is expecting QB Cade McNamara (Stats) to play Saturday’s game against Utah State. Earlier this week, McNamara confirmed he hasn’t been participating 100% in practice and that it’s up to the coaches and medical team if he plays after suffering a right leg injury during camp. Joe Labas (Stats) (leg) returned to practice after missing the majority of camp with an injury, but Deacon Hill (Stats) has overtaken him as the guy if McNamara is out.
Missouri QB Brady Cook (Stats) will start Thursday night against South Dakota, according to On3’s Matt Zenitz. Last year’s starter is listed at the top of the depth chart with Sam Horn (Stats), and head coach Eli Drinkwitz previously said both quarterbacks will play. He even said there is potential for three QBs to get in the mix, which would likely include Miami transfer Jake Garcia (Stats).

No starting quarterback was revealed in Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin’s press conference on Wednesday, according to Inside The Rebels’ Jared Redding. I’m running out of things to say about this quarterback battle, but Jaxson Dart (Stats) received the majority of work with the ones during camp over Spencer Sanders (Stats). Earlier this week, Kiffin said a final decision hasn’t been made, and Dart said he hasn’t been told who will start Saturday’s game against Mercer.
