COLLEGE FOOTBALL QB REPORT
Quarterback Central | Teams | Players
September 12: Ohio State head coach Ryan Day named Kyle McCord (Stats) the full-time starting quarterback, though Devin Brown (Stats) will still see the field. McCord started the first two weeks of the season, and the offense was more efficient with him on the field than Brown, so this is not much of a surprise. The Buckeyes are 28-point home favorites over Western Kentucky on Saturday afternoon after opening -28.5.
September 12: UCLA QBs Ethan Garbers (Stats), Dante Moore (Stats) and Collin Schlee (Stats) quarterbacks are listed as co-starters on this week’s depth chart as they have been all season so far. Moore threw three touchdowns in his first college start on Saturday with Schlee taking over in garbage time. Schlee did not play in Week 1, and Garbers did not see the field Week 2 after getting the season-opening start. Moore is the only one of the three to play both games to this point. UCLA will host NC Central on Saturday night.
September 12: Virginia Tech head coach Brent Pry said starting QB Grant Wells (Stats) is questionable this week. Backup Kyron Drones (Stats) took over for the final drive of last week’s game when Wells exited with an ankle injury, and Pry said there would be a discussion earlier this week to determine how to handle the quarterback position moving forward. Virginia Tech is a 6.5-point road underdog against Rutgers on Saturday afternoon after opening +4.
DEPTH CHART & INJURY REPORT
Week 3 college football QB depth charts & injuries
September 12: Oklahoma State QBs Alan Bowman (Stats), Garret Rangel (Stats) and Gunnar Gundy (Stats) are listed at the top of the depth chart as they have all season long. All three quarterbacks split reps fairly evenly for the second consecutive week with the only change being Bowman starting instead of Rangel as Gundy remained in the closer role in Saturday’s win over Arizona State. This is certainly a unique way to do this, and head coach Mike Gundy said the competition will continue this week. Oklahoma State is a 7-point home favorite against South Alabama on Saturday night after opening -9.
