Louisville lands 2024 3-star QB Deuce Adams

Deuce Adams (TX) became the first quarterback commitment in the Jeff Brohm era at Louisville as the Cardinals locked down a QB to their 2024 recruiting class. Adams came off a weekend visit to Louisville when he announced a commitment date shortly after, so this was the expected outcome. He’s joining a QB room that just signed 4-star Pierce Clarkson to the 2023 class.

Penn State QBs Drew Allar, Beau Pribula split reps

Drew Allar (Stats) is a significant favorite to open the season as Penn State’s starting quarterback despite James Franklin continuing to say Beau Pribula (Stats) is in the mix for QB1. Both have gotten reps with the first and second teams, and Franklin said the competition will last until it’s obvious the race has been decided. It’s unclear how real this “competition” truly is and if Allar isn’t the Week 1 starter, something went wrong.

Florida 2025 4-star commit Austin Simmons could reclassify to 2023, 2024

According to the report, Austin Simmons (Stats) is done with high school despite technically being a sophomore, which is possible by getting things done quicker in a home-school setting. Florida added a commitment from the in-state prospect on Tuesday, and he and his family are still working things out for what class Simmons would like to enroll in. He’s obviously the only 2025 QB commit for the Gators, which have a commitment from 2024 4-star DJ Lagway, though they struck out in 2023 despite once having 4-stars Marcus Stokes and Jaden Rashada (Stats) committed.

Florida QBs splitting reps during spring practice

Florida landed former blue-chip prospect Graham Mertz (Stats), who comes in with a ton of college football experience at Wisconsin, and his biggest challenger is former Ohio State QB Jack Miller III (Stats). According to the report, the two have been splitting practice reps with the first team in sessions open to the media. Mertz has the edge in this competition as a three-year starter, but his time with the Badgers was underwhelming.
