Tonight kicks off a loaded slate of spring games heading into the weekend with Florida getting things going as we get a look at the Gators’ quarterback battle. By my count, there are 50 FBS spring games over the next three days, and there’s going to be a ton of quarterback news coming out of the weekend with the transfer portal opening up on Saturday.

Ohio State QB Devin Brown will miss spring game
SCOOP: Eleven Warriors’ Dan Hope
Ohio State head coach Ryan Day said Devin Brown (Stats) underwent a procedure on his throwing hand and will miss Saturday’s spring game. Brown is in the middle of one of the most intriguing quarterback battles of the offseason alongside Kyle McCord (Stats). It doesn’t seem like Brown’s injury will include an extended absence, and this QB battle may continue into fall camp.
Virginia QB competition will continue after spring game
SCOOP: The Daily Progress’ Greg Madia
Virginia offensive coordinator Des Kitchings said the quarterback battle remains an open competition ahead to Saturday’s spring game. The top candidates include Monmouth transfer Tony Muskett (Stats) along with Jay Woolfolk (Stats), who is also on the baseball team, making it difficult to evaluate the quarterback room during spring practice.
Florida QBs will play on both teams in tonight’s spring game
SCOOP: Florida Athletics
Florida separated its roster into a blue and orange team for Thursday night’s spring game, and the orange team appears to feature the first-team offense. However, Wisconsin transfer Graham Mertz (Stats) and Jack Miller III (Stats) will play for both sides as they continue to battle for the starting quarterback spot. Mertz is considered the frontrunner based on a significant edge in experience, but this QB competition doesn’t appear to be over.

Ole Miss QB Spencer Sanders still recovering from injury
SCOOP: Ole Miss Athletics
Ole Miss has an ongoing three-way quarterback battle featuring returning starter Jaxson Dart (Stats) along with Oklahoma State transfer Spencer Sanders (Stats) and former LSU QB Walker Howard (Stats). The competition has been a bit limited this spring with Sanders still recovering from a shoulder injury suffered with the Cowboys last season. With incomplete information, it would be a surprise if Sanders doesn’t get another shot to compete for the starting spot during fall camp.
