COLLEGE FOOTBALL QB REPORT

Quarterback Central | Teams | Players

Georgia QB Carson Beck (Stats) has been working with the first-team offense, according to 247Sports’ Jordan D. Hill. This news is in line for how spring practices ended with plenty of rumors swirling on the potential for Brock Vandagriff (Stats) to transfer during the second portal window. It remains to be seen when or if a starting quarterback will be announced before Week 1, but Beck is in a good position to claim that role.

Ohio State head coach Ryan Day said it would be ideal to name a starting quarterback within the first week or two of training camp. This isn’t to say a starting QB will be named within the next few weeks, and Day didn’t rule out the possibility of the Kyle McCord (Stats) vs. Devin Brown (Stats) competition to extend into the season. It still feels like McCord is the player to beat moving forward, but there clearly isn’t much separation in the Buckeyes’ QB room.

It’s commitment day for 2025 4-star QB Stone Saunders (PA). He will announce his college decision on Friday night at 6:25 p.m. ET, and it can be seen on ABC27 News in Central Pennsylvania. Six predictions have come in from the three major recruiting sites, and all of them are siding with Kentucky to have a quarterback committed to its 2025 recruiting class by the end of today.

DEPTH CHART & INJURY REPORT

Week 1 College football QB depth charts & injuries

Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin said he would prefer the quarterback competition to be decided before the start of the season. The Rebels split quarterback starts in the first few games of the 2022 season with Jaxson Dart (Stats) and Luke Altmyer (Stats). Dart appears to be the favorite to open Week 1 as the starting QB, but Spencer Sanders (Stats) will have a say in how this ends with Walker Howard (Stats) also in the mix. An underrated storyline would be whether Sanders transfers if he loses this battle considering he has one year of eligibility remaining.
