USC QB commit Julian Lewis (GA) reclassified from the 2026 recruiting cycle to 2025, ESPN’s Pete Thamel reported. He committed to the Trojans in August, and they have a little less than a year to hang on. Since reclassifying, he has been downgraded from a 5-star prospect and the top-rated quarterback in the class to a 4-star in 2025.

Former Maryland QB Taulia Tagovailoa (stats) will declare for the NFL Draft, 247Sports’ Matt Zenitz reported. He entered the transfer portal with the hope of getting an extra year of eligibility, but his waiver was denied, ESPN’s Pete Thamel reported. MJ Morris (stats) is set to take over the starting role in 2024.

Auburn transfer QB Robby Ashford (stats) committed to South Carolina with two years of eligibility remaining. He was the Tigers’ backup with a regular role as a rushing threat in 2023 and will compete with LaNorris Sellers (stats) to be the Gamecocks’ starting quarterback.

TRANSFER PORTAL REPORT (8)

Texas State QB TJ Finley (stats) entered the transfer portal with two years of eligibility remaining, On3’s Pete Nakos reported. Just a few days ago, Finley announced he’ll return in 2024, but the Bobcats since added Arizona transfer QB Jayden de Laura (stats), who has one year left. Finley was not aware of the team’s plans to add de Laura when he committed, San Antonio-Express News’ Keff Ciardello reported. Finley has also played at LSU and Auburn.
